Good agricultural practices aren’t just about products; they are also about people.
That’s why our members developed GRASP – a GLOBALG.A.P. add-on.
GRASP stands for GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice. It is a voluntary, ready-to-use module developed to assess social practices on the farm, such as specific aspects of workers’ health, safety, and welfare.

Country Risk Classification

Together with the GRASP Technical Committee, the GLOBALG.A.P. Secretariat has developed a methodology for GRASP assessments in the new GRASP version 1.3-1-i. This methodology is based on a risk classification concept that groups countries into three different risk categories: high, medium, or low. The risk categories are based on the Worldwide Governance Indicators of the World Bank (rankings from 1–100). Find out more about the methodology in the Country Risk Classification Concept.

Harmonizing Good Social Practice Worldwide

Legal requirements regarding the control points (such as minimum wage, age of legal employment, working hours, etc.) differ from country to country. Where the requirements are stricter, local legislation takes precedence over GRASP. Where there is no legislation (or legislation is not so strict), GRASP provides the minimum compliance criteria for a good social management system.

To make these requirements transparent to producers, auditors, and inspectors, local multi-stakeholder groups develop GRASP national interpretation guidelines. GRASP can be assessed in every country – even in countries that do not have a national interpretation guideline yet. Find out more about national interpretation guidelines here.
